CAPT Dana E. Ware, Commanding Officer, USCGC RUSH (WHEC
723) |
Welcome to the U.S. Coast Guard Cutter RUSH (WHEC-723) Website.
Whether you are a new crewmember looking for information about
reporting aboard, a family member chec king on our deployment
progress or simply curious about RUSH, I think this site will
pro vide you with the information you desire.
Serving aboard a 378 foot High Endurance Coast Guard cutter is
quite an experience. RUSH’s normal operations can take us
to every part of the Pacific Ocean as well as to the Gulf of Alaska
and the Bering Sea. In each deployment, RUSH will cover an average
of over 12,000 nautical miles. The missions can be very demanding,
yet always rewarding. Search and Rescue, Law Enforcement and National
Defense all enter into our daily responsibilities. The key to
our success in these missions is the high caliber of the women
and men that make RUSH come alive.
Those reporting aboard come with varying levels of personal skills
in a wide array of abilities required for shipboard life. For
some, it is their first experience after initial training and
nearly everything is new. For others, RUSH is an opportunity to
accept a more responsible position and continue their professional
growth. All of us have something to contribute and something to
gain. These abilities come together under the pressure of performing
the Coast Guard’s missions to form a ship’s crew,
providing an experience that is hard to replicate.
I consider the opportunity to serve with the sailors on RUSH
an incredible privilege. Spend some time on our website and you
will get a glimpse of life aboard RUSH, and perhaps understand
why we are so proud of what we do. Our motto is Kia'i Kai No Ka
Oi, The Best in the Coast Guard, which we are proud to be.
