Just thought I’d try something new. I was getting really tired of the old theme, and wanted to try a whole new program. Still tweaking it around trying to figure out all the functions and features. Getting a little agitated with the different Themes because they don’t seem to agree with my imported entries from Movable Type. Oh well, new toy to play with for a bit.
In Memory of Tucker

A friend of ours tragically lost her Great Dane Tucker on a Continental flight recently. Due to Continental’s gross negligence, Tucker suffered severe internal injuries and had to be euthanized shortly after his arrival. Continental has been callous and handled this situation atrociously.

Wow, I’ve been a bad blogger lately. I haven’t posted in a very long time. I don’t intend to write a whole lot right now, because I’m about to head out the door, but just wanted to update that I’m alive and well! Though I am getting over some salmonella poisoning. I’m on the mend and almost back to normal. Just remember to fully cook your turkey burgers!
We’re settled into Rohnert Park now. Almost ALL of the nonsense from the transfer is over. I should be getting my final claim check from the moving company for all the stuff they broke. I’m settling into my job pretty well now. I am really enjoying it and am looking forward to doing it for the next few years. I’m really having a blast, and feels good to enjoy my job again.
Just to let you know, my new hobby now is running! Go figure. I used to HATE running. Never understood the interest in it. But I’m hooked on it now and I think it’s because this Nike+ deal really makes it kind of like a video game. You set goals, earn little trophies, enter competitions. It makes it pretty fun. I’m training for the Nike+ 10k Human Race and I’m probably also going to enter the Napa Wine Country 19th Annual 10k up in Calistoga. If you want to track my progress as I train, you can check it out on my Nike+ Profile
Anyway, that’s a brief update on what I’m up to.
It’s almost time for the trek back to California. I’m putting the finishing touches on all my paperwork, planning all the dates for shipping everything, getting my stuff slowly packed up and loaded into the car to take it up to Petaluma. I don’t want to jinx anything, but this move is going much smoother than the last. I’m definitely not in as much of a rush as I was last time. I got close to the date I wanted, and I took plenty of leave to afford us time to get settled in.
Now just the horrible anxiety that comes with starting a new job! I don’t know what to expect really. I’m glad I don’t have any trepidation about public speaking, and I’ve been told I’m good at teaching. Let’s just hope it all wasn’t just lip service and I actually do have a knack for this.
On another note, I actually did really well on the May Service Wide Exam for Chief. So, hopefully, if all goes well I should be pinning on Chief some time next year! I just hope they let me fleet up and stay in Petaluma. I’d really hate to only get a few months there and then have to pick up and move again. Especially since I’d probably be going right back to another ship. I kind of want a little bit more of a break before going back to another ship.
PS. Name that tune in the title. The song title is fitting of the post
Well I finally ventured out with the new camera and snapped some pictures. I’m definitely impressed with this new camera. Plus it was on sale the day I went to buy it. It’s easier to use, it’s much faster, it’s more compact, and the image quality is so much better than my last one. Of course I had to shrink and compress the pics I took in order to put them on the website, but they still look much better than the ones from my other camera.
Some of the best pictures are at the end because I finally got to venture over to M5 Industries, home of my favorite television show Mythbusters. I don’t know what took me so long to venture over there, it’s only a few blocks down the street from where I’m at. It looked a little different, and I think they film a lot of the stuff at one of the other buildings there, but it was definitely the right place as the sign in the pictures can attest. The best part was when we were standing outside taking pictures, one of the people working there pulled up and asked if we wanted some autographed pictures. He ran inside and came back out with the pictures, and I snapped a shot of what we got in the last picture. That definitely made the trip. I wish I could have ran into one of the cast, but I’m glad I walked away with the autographs.
