Tumbling Tumble Weeds

I am almost "en route", I'm living out of a suitcase and drifting from location to location until my roots can take hold in Hawaii(I'm posting via a open Wi-Fi connection). I like the travelling life, but I'm ready to get to the final destination. All things have fallen into place, all projects completed, now it's just a matter of leaving this island for the next.

Disaster to Distract from Tragedy

Since this site(www.awfulmonkey.com) somewhat spiraled off on its own into much more of a personal site than what it was intended(a web design showcase), I have now created the subdomain design.awfulmonkey.com to play host to those projects under the name of A.M. Web Design. This site will continue to be a site that I send to family and friends(still working on the photo gallery), but all professional projects and links for clients will be made available on A.M. Web Design.

A friend departs as zero hour looms

After getting my car back from its hibernation and repair, I must already bid it adieu. I had missed driving it just for the sake of driving it, but now it must be crated and shipped ahead of me. I have had very little opportunity to even drive the thing when I bought it due to weather, and I think these past 4 days have been the most driving I've even been able to do(I filled the gas tank 3 days before I was supposed to ship it... requiring me to have less than a quarter of a tank). I fear that it won't even arrive in time for me to claim it in Hawaii before I must depart there myself.

Friday will be the culmination of a year long project that will finally have the seal of completion upon it. That will bring a good sense of closure and accomplishment(and money). I will place links to these two projects in question when they have been finalized on Friday. Then you can send me e-mails with complaints about my code and design(which of course I will take to heart.........).

Twenty one more days and counting!

Countdown to Extinction

Only 27 more days until the great Exodus of Kodiak. I will finally depart the island in a week long journey to to yet another island. Nah, I'll be spending some time out East before I get there, learning a little bit more for my job and visiting friends and family. It may seem like another stint of relaxation, but I'm just sitting in the eye of the hurricane. Once I get there the beginning of a new job, a new city, a new cuture, and numerous foreign viral infections mutating the air I breath. Errr......

But the clock is ticking, and the tasks to finish are dwindling. I am heading to the crest of the wave and am starting to plan the descent. Wish me luck!

It's always quietest before the storm...

I had a nice little respite last week down in Petaluma where I was sent for some training. The travel time spent in San Francisco was excellent, and gave me a bit of time to collect my thoughts about all the pending tasks. But, now that I have returned to Kodiak and created a list of what must be accomplished, it has become very apparent how little time I have.

I now have full ownership of a new sports car that does not currently run because it sat so long through the winter, so now I must have it towed, repaired, then shipped. I have four projects looming over my head at COMMSTA that I must complete before departure. I have to prepare everything for shipment within the next 2 weeks. About the only thing that has gone smoothly is the completion of two web sites I was creating for some people. I was able to put the finishing touches on them this morning so that they are ready to be published.

I feel that once I get to Hawaii I will have about 2 minutes to relax, and then the excitement of a new job begins.....there is never rest for the weary.
