Insomnia is the father of revelation

It is 0230AST and I have to get ready for work in 2 hours, but I finally figured out how to customize the design of this site. Being the newbie that I am, I didn't realize how powerful style sheets were. But with the help of some web sites, code generators, and massive tinkering in Dreamweaver(great CSS modification utilities), I finally got the site almost exactly how I want it. This Movable Type program is excellent, but once again I'm afraid it comes up lacking in the documentation department.

My next goal is to integrate an easily updatable links table and categorized photo album that I can easily update while I'm underway. I think this can be accomplished with some readily available plug-ins for Movable Type. But, as I've been finding throughout this process, even snap-on products can be a hassle to integrate.

As for the insomnia. My complete lack of sleep for the past 2 days is due to the upcoming transfer. I know it will all go smoothly now that I was able to free up even more time by cancelling appointments and moving tasks around, but it is still a nuisance that is causing me quite a bit of grief. My report date has been moved up due to needs of personnel therefore shortening my preparation time by an entire month and cutting my house hunting/move in time to almost nil. But, these are the joys of a military career, I simply need to ride it out and relax when the rollercoast comes to a complete stop.

Slowly but surely

Well, it's almost 0500AST, and I have finally gotten Movable Type working. This program should be great for assisting me in easily writing updates, but I'm still trying to learn all the ins and outs on it. The biggest hassle was getting it to install properly. Needless to say the supplied technical support paqes weren't the greatest in the world for a beginner such as myself. Especially without any prior knowledge of MySQL, but I muddled through it. MySQL was the main hitchpoint because my provider only has 4.0.X installed and Movable Type seems to favor 5.0 at least. How did I find this out? Two hours of reading forums and Google searching. But, it is finally installed and running.

Now the task at hand is re-formatting the design of the site to the way I had it before while also using this update utility. Once again, the couple of sentences splurted out in the help file come up lacking. I have never seen such poorly written technical assistance, and I'm in the military, so what does that tell you? I will figure this out though eventually, it's just a matter of getting it up and running just the way I like it.

Ah well, back to the task at hand.
